Per the New York Daily News:
Strategic Allied Consulting is under criminal investigation for suspected voter registration fraud in several states.
The company’s owner, Republican strategist Nathan Sproul, has been accused of similar crimes in the past. But recent allegations have forced the Republican Party — who paid Strategic Allied Consulting millions to register voters in Colorado, Florida, Nevada, North Carolina and Virginia — to sever ties with the firm.
Strategic Allied Consulting allegedly registered dead people, altered real forms and created fake ones, reported The New York Times.
One employee is accused of ripping up a Democrat’s registration form and another employee is charged with 13 counts of election fraud. Other instances of alleged abuse include forms with imaginary addresses and invalid driver’s license numbers, according to Fox 31.
The company released a statement last month claiming that no laws were broken: “Strategic Allied Consulting has never tolerated even minimal violations of election law when registering voters.”
Democratic Rep. Elijah Cummings of Maryland wrote a letter to Sproul demanding that Strategic Allied Consulting turn over its records, but Sproul has refused.
“I think Congressman Cummings,” Sproul said, “is seeking an opportunity to pirouette in front of the television cameras.”
Sproul was previously under investigation in 2004 when the Department of Justice, the Arizona Attorney General and prosecutors in several states suspected widespread registration fraud.
His employees allegedly pressured voters “toward registering as Republicans,” hinting that their registration forms would “not be turned in if they registered as Democrats,” according to investigators.
But the case was closed and Sproul was not charged, reported Fox 31.
“When the Department of Justice looked into it, looked at our quality control measures, they said there’s nothing here, they gave us a clean bill of health,” said Sproul.
Strategic Allied Consulting is based in Tempe, Ariz. but registered in Virginia. It shares an address with Karl Rove’s Super PAC American Crossroads
